As the chairman of the Management Education Unit (MEdU), which is dedicated to providing support and resources to students currently enrolled in the G.C.E. (Advanced Level) Commerce program in schools, as well as their teachers free of charge. Our activities encompass educating students on various subjects, including the content of their coursework and potential career opportunities within the Commerce stream. We also deliver motivational speeches that underscore the essential qualities students should develop during their school years to achieve success in life. Additionally, we organize "Commerce Camps" aimed at benefiting A/L students, especially those in rural areas. The Accounting & Finance Students’ Society launched its annual CRS project intending to give something back to society. Society believes it is a responsibility to enhance educational development and facilitate the quality of life of the community because the general public funds the higher education sector. This project focuses on A/L students as the Advanced Level examination is a critical turning point for any school student. How they face the examination has no doubt an impact on their future. Thus, this CSR project intends to assist them in doing their best in the Advanced Level examination. As the lecturer-in-charge of the society ( lecturer in charge) of the society I guided them and provide all the administrative support needed from the faculty and the University.
The Department of Finance's yearly Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, known as "Snehadara," was inaugurated at Kosgala Vidyalaya in Kahangama, Rathnapura, on October 15th, 2016. The project was overseen by second-year students from the Department of Finance, with me serving as the lead organizer. Our efforts resulted in significant contributions to the school, including Buddha statues allocated for each classroom, desktop computers, a collection of library books, and various stationery supplies. Additionally, we provided a comprehensive set of stationary items such as exercise books, school bags, and mathematical compass boxes for every student ranging from Grade 1 to 11.
I co-led the "Senahaseyathrawa" initiative with a team of fellow university students. Our goal was to support those who were impacted by the 2017 floods in the Kalutara district. These floods were a result of continuous heavy rainfall in Sri Lanka starting from May 26, 2017. The disaster affected over half a million individuals and tragically led to a death toll of over 200. In response, our project played a vital role in delivering essential assistance to the affected individuals, including dry rations, clean water, clothing, and necessary medication.
